A Missouri food forest & heritage flock

Every harvest has a story. Ours begins with thyme.

Story Thyme Farms is a small family farm planting a layered food forest — fruit and nut trees over berries, herbs, and hard-working perennials — with a barnyard flock scratching underneath. We share the eggs, the plants, and the story.

What we're growing

Three patches of one farm

Trees and perennials up top, chickens underneath,
and a printworks in the farmhouse.

The food forest

A young orchard planted the permaculture way: canopy fruit and nut trees, berry shrubs in the middle story, and comfrey, alliums, and herbs holding the floor. The extras — roots, bulbils, cuttings — go to the farm store.

The flock

A colourful barnyard mix ranging under the trees — they weed, they fertilise, and they lay. Fertile hatching eggs from the mix are our first farm product.

Bulbils are curing in the barn

The walking onions did their trick again — every stalk bowed over with a fresh cluster of top-sets. They're drying on screens now and will be ready to ship for fall planting.

First hatch of the summer

Twenty-one days of waiting, then peeping: the incubator gave us a healthy, noisy mix of chicks — proof the barnyard genetics are doing exactly what we hoped.
